BRANFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — A four-year-old pug died Wednesday after a hit-and-run in Branford, according to police and Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter.

The animal shelter said that the dog was hit and killed on South Montowese Street at around 3:30 p.m. after escaping the backyard through an open gate.

Police said they have identified the vehicle and suspect involved.

A vehicle that may have information on the incident is a dark green or dark colored Porsche Cayenne that would have been headed in the direction of The Elks or Lenny's Restaurant, according to the animal shelter.
