INDIANAPOLIS — Two men from Indianapolis have been sentenced to prison for distributing fentanyl .

According to the U.S. Department of Justice , the following cases are unrelated.

Richard Garner III

Richard Garner III, 38, was sentenced to 15 years in prison, followed by eight years of supervised release.

The U.S. DOJ said Garner pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of a substance containing fentanyl and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

IMPD initiated a traffic stop on Garner after he ran a red light at the intersection of Keystone Avenue and English Avenue on Aug. 8, 2024.
