The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has named a Kennesaw man as the suspected shooter in Friday’s attack on the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that left a police officer dead.
The GBI named Patrick Joseph White, 30, of Kennesaw, as the suspect. Both he and DeKalb Police Officer David Rose died in the incident on Clifton Road in DeKalb County, the GBI reports.
Calls reporting an active shooter in the area first came into the Atlanta 911 call center around 4:50 p.m. Friday, Atlanta Police Department Chief Darin Schierbaum said in a press conference later that evening.
Schierbaum said the shooting occurred at the intersection of Clifton Road and CDC Parkway, “immediately in front of the CDC campus.”
