City Council President Mary Sheffield and Solomon Kinloch Jr. fared better in Detroit in areas where residents aged 25–44 make less than the city's median income of around $35,000, the Detroit News reports , citing an analysis it conducted using precinct data and U.S. Census tract information. Sheffield, who won the primary with 51 percent of the vote, will square off in the general election against Kinloch, who received 17 percent.
Former Detroit City Council President Saunteel Jenkins, who finished third with 16 percent of the vote, performed better in wealthier areas, the News analysis shows.
