Citing a new DigiTmes report, MacRumors is claiming that Apple may broaden its MacBook lineup with a surprisingly affordable model featuring a 12.9-inch screen, and a price tag starting as low as US $599.

The reports cites supply chain sources indicating that some components for this low-cost MacBook are scheduled to enter mass production by the end of the third quarter of 2025.

Final assembly is likely to occur at Quanta’s facilities during the fourth quarter, suggesting a commercial debut may take place by the end of this year or early 2026.
