Jennifer Hudson sang at a tribute to the late Whitney Houston’s 40 years in music. I can’t entirely tell if this is SUPPOSED to be an ’80s-tinged throwback to the decade that made Whitney famous, or if that’s just a coincidence. I could argue it either way. I poked around to see if it might be an homage to a classic Whitney look, but I found nothing — and if she were going to do that, I think I’d have voted for recreating this look from the cover of her second album . There is a real whiff of her being the heroine of a nighttime soap. There are little nits to pick — her left boob and her right boob appear to be under different levels of compression, and it honestly looks like someone put a pale cummerbund underneath it?!? But it’s also big and exuberant, like Whitney’s voice at its most
