Who Is Anna Delvey? Delvey , real name Anna Sorokin, is a Russian-born con artist who posed as a German heiress in the mid 2010s and worked herself into wealthy social circles in Manhattan and funded her lucrative lifestyle using bad checks, forced documents, and the connections she made with wealthy people based on her lies. She was the subject of a Netflix series, Inventing Anna , where she was played by Julia Garner. Delvey was eventually caught and served nearly four years in prison. Despite not being an American citizen and despite her criminal record, she has so far managed to avoid being deported to Germany (although, she is fighting deportation charges).
