Baltimore Gas & Electric warned customers of a possible widespread outage because a power plant that serves BGE customers experienced “an unplanned disconnection from the BGE electric system,” according to a news release.
BGE is working with the plant’s owner on the necessary repairs as quickly and safely as possible. The company did not say which plant was involved or what happened.
“This event has the potential to cause a temporary power outage this afternoon and evening,” the release said. “We are asking all BGE customers to conserve electricity beginning immediately and through this evening. Energy conservation helps reduce the potential for an outage. If an outage becomes necessary, we will make every effort to alert customers in advance.”
