A Virginia woman, mother of an emerging country star, was murdered in a home invasion Aug. 3, according to WTVR.

Holly Hatcher, 62, the mom of rising country star Spencer Hatcher, was brutally killed when a stranger broke into her home just north of Harrisonburg, according to the report.

Her husband, Michael Hatcher, 65, was also injured in the attack, but not before mortally wounding the attacker. After grabbing a gun from his car, he shot and killed the intruder, Kevin Moses Walker, 41, of Pikesville, Maryland.
