MANDAN, N.D. (KUMV) - A 16-year-old Mandan boy will take a plea agreement to possessing child pornography. He’s being tried as an adult.
Prosecutors charged Matthew Smith with five counts of possessing prohibited materials.
Investigators say they found thousands of explicit videos and photos involving minors on Smith’s phone and his online accounts.
Court documents indicate that a medical report on Smith two years ago recommended that he be supervised when it comes to accessing the internet and contacting children under the age of 12.
As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors are dismissing two charges of promoting minor sexual performances and one count of sexual assault of a minor.
His next court appearance has not been set.
