Depending on where you live, school could start at the beginning of the week. But most of the districts in our area do start mid-week, with Wednesdays and Thursdays being popular choices.

State law allows school districts to set their own calendars, which is why you have districts starting at different times. The Department of Education does have to approve school calendars.
