While driving along a freeway in Rubidoux, California, David Loop — founder of the animal rescue Sierra Pacific Furbabies — noticed a strange dark shape near an exit ramp.

Concerned it might be an animal in distress, he immediately slowed down, pulled over, and hurried to investigate.

A wave of sadness washed over him when he saw it was a dog, apparently struck by a vehicle. The pup lay still, and Loop feared he had already passed.

But as he got closer, Loop spotted the faint rise and fall of the dog’s chest — he was still breathing. Without wasting a moment, he called his rescue team for help.

Shiloh Gets Emergency Care

Hearing Loop’s footsteps, the injured dog — later named Shiloh — lifted his head and looked at him. Terrified and hurt, Shiloh let out a growl .
