Detroit Public Schools, the largest district in the state, will begin school Aug. 25.

Some districts have not posted calendars yet, citing ongoing bargaining with teachers' unions.

The first day of school is on the horizon, with more than a dozen metro Detroit school districts welcoming back students in August, before the traditional start after Labor Day.

For dozens of districts, the Detroit Free Press has compiled dates for the first day of school, fall breaks (and any breaks around Thanksgiving), spring breaks (as well as mid-winter breaks, if a district offers one) and the last day of school. Some districts have not yet posted calendars, but the Free Press will update this list as those dates are posted.
