TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - The Leon County Commission may rescind its vote to raise the fire services fee by about 22% after further legal analysis found they were not required to.

The county commission previously voted 4 to 3 to require residents to pay more. That decision, though, was largely based on an understanding that the county didn’t have a choice.

But at a special emergency meeting on Tuesday, that might change.

Residents can make their voices heard at the meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 3 p.m.

City, county were headed to private court

Both Leon County and the City of Tallahassee were scheduled to take their cases before a panel of three former judges in a process known as private arbitration.
