Last week, the Southeastern Conference made a loud statement within college football when nine of its programs earned a spot in the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll , including landing the No. 1 spot with Texas.

A week later, the SEC re-emphasized that statement as 10 of its teams appeared in the preseason AP Top 25 poll, which was released on Monday, Aug. 11.

Led by Heisman Trophy candidate Arch Manning , Texas was once again seeded ahead of Ohio State in the preseason poll. It is the first time that the Longhorns have been tabbed as the preseason No. 1 team in the AP poll, and the fifth time they've been placed in the top two of it in program history.
