The man who walked into a Point Place KeyBank Friday and shot into the ceiling died of a gunshot wound to the head, the Lucas County Coroner’s Office said Monday.

Dr. Thomas Blomquist identified the man as 47-year-old Keith Johnson. Following an autopsy, his cause of death was “gunshot wound of the head, suicide,” the coroner said.

The incident began about 3:40 p.m. Friday with Toledo police and the FBI responding to a report of a suspected robbery and shooting at the bank at 5037 Suder Ave. At 4:08 p.m., while surveilling the bank, police reported seeing the man put the gun to his head and pull the trigger.

The area was closed to vehicular traffic for several hours while authorities investigated the scene.
