Justin Verlander is MLB’s active strikeout king, but he doesn’t plan to hang up his cleats just yet.

The 3-time Cy Young winner is now 41 years old, but he recently told reporters he plans pitch in 2026 in what would be his 21st MLB season.

“I mean, I’d like to,” the former Tigers ace told The San Francisco Standard. “At this point in my career, if something goes really wrong, I’m not going to rehab a surgery or anything. I always understand that it could be it, but I think physically, I’ve shown some good health this season.”

Verlander is in his first season with the San Franciso Giants, and while his 1-9 record and 4.53 ERA in 99 1/3 innings is far from “Must See JV,” he did record his 3,500th strikeout on Sunday , becoming just the 10th pitcher in MLB history to do so.
