LANSING — An Irons woman has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the stabbing death of her husband, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced Monday.
According to an Aug. 11 news release from the Attorney General’s office, Betsy K. McIntyre, 69, was initially charged with first-degree murder by the Lake County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Prosecutors said she stabbed her husband 14 times on May 11, killing him.
Under a plea agreement, McIntyre will serve between 20 and 40 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections. A sentencing date has not been set.
The Department of Attorney General has been managing prosecutorial functions in Lake County since early June, following the resignation of the county’s prosecuting attorney. Nessel said her office will continue to provide
