Ward 5 Coun. Mike Parent wants more care and compassion for the dearly departed resting at the cemetery on Lasalle Boulevard .

During Monday’s meeting of the community and emergency services committee, Parent won a motion directing staff to present a report to the committee during the fall, which outlines “potential options, costs and timelines to address the fallen and leaning monuments at the Lasalle cemetery.”

Parent said a resident of Ward 5 first alerted him to the deteriorating conditions at the cemetery. He visited the resting place and compared it to conditions at the graveyard on Second Avenue.

As Parent pointed out, many of the headstones at the Lasalle cemetery have toppled.
