TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Airport statistics show traffic is down at Tallahassee International Airport by 8.5% year over year.
This time last year, the flight boards would have had two extra airlines — JetBlue and Silver Airways . However, both of those airlines got into financial trouble and had to leave TLH. Now, airport leaders say they have a plan to attract new airlines.
In May, a joint city-county board known as Blueprint agreed to spend about $600,000 a year to guarantee airlines revenue at the airport, which is known as a “minimum revenue guarantee.”
If airlines make enough, taxpayers pay nothing. If they don’t, taxpayers kick in the difference.
Airport Director David Pollard said this is an important incentive to attract airlines to the capital city.
“We’re looking for
