(NewsNation) — Katy Perry was fined thousands of dollars for filming a music video in a protected area of Spain.

The Balearic government fined Perry’s production company 6,001 euros, about $7,000, for filming her “Lifetimes” music video in a protected area of the Ses Salines Natural Park in July 2024 without permission, according to Majorca Daily Bulletin.

The “143” singer reportedly did not get the required permit from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and the Natural Environment to film the video.

The Majorca Daily Bulletin reports that officials cited the matter as a “serious offense” but did not issue more penalties because there’s no evidence of permanent environmental damage.
