Three Claire's locations in the area could shut down in bankruptcy

Three Claire's locations in the Sarasota-Bradenton area are at risk of closing following the company's most recent Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

Claire's, a mall staple for years, announced it will be closing 1,119 stores if it can't find a buyer soon. The company filed for bankruptcy , for the second time, last week.

Many of the company's stores on the closing list are in Florida. The store has three locations on the Suncoast: Ellenton Premium Outlets in Ellenton, The Mall at University Town Center in Sarasota and the Port Charlotte Town Center in Port Charlotte.

The Illinois-based company has 1,326 stores across the U.S. and is looking for a buyer for the remaining locations.
