SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - South Carolina Senator Roger Nutt announced on Monday that he is resigning due to a recent medical diagnosis.
The Upstate senator for District 12, representing parts of Greenville and Spartanburg Counties, said he was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
He submitted a letter of resignation to the President of the Senate, Thomas C. Alexander, effective in January.
Alexander gave the following statement:
Nutt said serving in the Senate has been “a dream come true.”
