Last month's scheduled meeting of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) was abruptly canceled by HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and reports followed that he plans to remove all USPSTF members. This echoes Kennedy's dismissal of all members of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) in June, and his replacement of the committee with a smaller number of members, most of whom lack experience in infectious disease and immunization. The future of the USPSTF hangs in the balance. Most recently, Kennedy has said he is "reviewing" whether to remove all USPSTF members.
