Two people are dead after a shooting at the Target on Research Boulevard in North Austin, APD says.

Police have detained a suspect described earlier as a white male, possibly wearing khaki shorts and a Hawaiian or floral shirt.

The 8000 block of the MoPac southbound frontage road is closed; drivers should avoid the area.

AUSTIN, Texas - Austin police say two people were killed Monday in a shooting at a North Austin Target, and a suspect is now in custody.

The shooting happened at the store located at 8601 Research Boulevard, between Ohlen Road and Fairfield Drive. Emergency crews with Austin-Travis County EMS said four total patients were involved, though APD has not confirmed if that number includes the two people who died.
