KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Associated Press released its annual preseason college football poll on Monday and Tennessee has made the rankings for the fourth consecutive year. However, the voters did not rate the Volunteers as highly as last week's coaches poll.

Tennessee came in at No. 24 on the newly released ratings, the team's lowest rank in the preseason AP poll since 2022. The US LBM Preseason Coaches poll released on Aug. 4 placed the Vols six spots higher at No. 18.

Nine voters ranked Tennessee in the top 20, including two ballots that placed the Vols inside the top 10. Damien Sordelett of The Roanoke Times and Boston.com reporter Trevor Hass both put the Vols at No. 9.
