Repeat Felon Found with Stolen Vehicle and Multiple Drugs in Middleburg

A man with 14 prior felony convictions, Todd Wade Powers, 38, of Middleburg, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm. U.S. District Judge Marcia Morales Howard handed down the sentence after Powers pleaded guilty in April 2025.

The conviction stems from an incident on April 30, 2024, when Clay County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a gas station. They noticed a car with a stolen license plate and, upon closer inspection, saw an open backpack inside the vehicle containing a firearm and a white powdery substance.
