President Donald Trump referenced crime in Baltimore during a news conference Monday, prompting a response from the city’s mayor.
When announcing the federal takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department and the deployment of the National Guard in Washington, Trump said Baltimore and a few other cities in the country were “so far gone” when it came to addressing violent crime.
“This issue directly impacts the functioning of the federal government and is a threat to America, a threat to our country. We have other cities also that are bad, very bad,” Trump said. “You look at Chicago, how bad it is, you look at Los Angeles, how bad it is, other cities that are very bad, New York is a problem, and then you have of course, Baltimore and Oakland — you don’t even mention that anymore, they’re
