The preseason edition of the Associated Press Top 25 college football rankings were released on Monday.

Alabama is No. 8 in the rankings, while Auburn was among those receiving votes. It’s the lowest preseason ranking for the Crimson Tide since it was at No. 24 entering 2008, while the Tigers are not ranked in the preseason for the fifth straight year.

Texas is the preseason No. 1 for the first time in AP poll history (since 1936). The Longhorns received 25 first-place votes and 1,552 poll points.

Penn State is No. 2 (five points behind Texas), followed by Ohio State, Clemson and Georgia, with Notre Dame, Oregon, Alabama, LSU and Miami rounding out the Top 10. The Nittany Lions received 23 first-place votes, while the Buckeyes got 11, Clemson four and Georgia and Oregon one each.
