It’s grand opening, grand closing on Ameer Abdullah’s 2025 campaign in the Bay Area.
Just 11 days after signing with the San Francisco 49ers, the team placed the 32-year-old running back on the season-ending injured reserve list.
During the 49ers’ preseason matchup against the Denver Broncos on Saturday, Abdullah exited in the third quarter with an apparent rib injury.
On a third-and-short run up the middle, the veteran back took a huge hit, resulting in both a fumble and Abdullah clutching his ribs. He left the field under his power.
Abdullah, heading into his 11th NFL season, previously played for the Las Vegas Raiders — where he spent the past three years — as well as the Carolina Panthers and Minnesota Vikings.
