“It was standing room only. Reporters with assigned seats had to push through the crush of people standing in the aisles just to get to their seats. At one point, the president joked that this is the reason why he's building a ballroom. He also joked the room was so packed that we're probably breaking every fire code there is in D.C.”

“At one point, the president asked reporters in the room if they had questions for any of the members of the cabinet who were standing with him on the dais. He had Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Attorney General Pam Bondi, the FBI Director Kash Patel, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, among others who were with him the dais. And he wanted questions for them. They had been standing with them for the better part of an hour, and at one point he said it would be unfair to have them. Standing there all day long without being able to answer any questions.”

U.S. President Donald Trump held a press conference today at the White House with members of his cabinet.
In the briefing Trump said he's placing Washington police under federal control and activating the National Guard.
Associated Press reporter Darlene Superville was in the room for the AP and said it was a standing room only event.
“Reporters with assigned seats had to push through the crush of people standing in the aisles just to get to their seats. At one point, the president joked that this is the reason why he's building a ballroom,” Superville said.
Trump also joked that the briefing must have violated local fire codes.
“I've never seen this room so packed. In fact, I'm sure it's a violation of every fire code,” Trump said.
