Auburn wide receiver Malcolm Simmons’ domestic assault case has been dismissed, per 247 Sports .
Simmons was arrested on July 16 on a charge of domestic assault with strangulation or suffocation in Lee County.
He was cleared to participate in team practices, which began on July 30.
“Based on the information that I’ve been given from our campus administration who have knowledge of this situation, he’s been cleared to participate in team activities,” Freeze stated at the beginning of fall camp.
Simmons’ preliminary hearing was on August 8, and it was reported by various outlets that the defense requested youthful offender status during the hearing – meaning details of the case would have been closed off to the public and there would not be a jury trial.
