On Aug. 2, Kenny “The Ragin’ Cajun” Vice, legendary boxer, Lafayette native and Comeaux High School alum died at 64 in his home from complications secondary to chronic traumatic encephalopathy that occurred from of a boxing career that spanned 25 years, his daughter Courtney Vice Habetz said.
Funeral services were held Saturday in Youngsville. Vice was one of the premier boxers to come out of the Acadiana area, securing a WBF title in 1995 by beating Alvin Patton.
He represented the area boxing scene as the Grand Marshall of the Youngsville Mardi Gras parade that following year, carrying the Olympic torch through Lafayette as it made its way to the Olympic ceremonies in Atlanta in 1996.
