President Donald Trump says he supports the Republican effort to redraw Congressional maps to try and maintain control on Capitol Hill.

Texas lawmakers are in a stalemate with Democrats refusing to return to the state to vote.

But Florida's House Speaker is now forming a committee to explore redistricting.

That had California Gov. Gavin Newsom, posting on social media, calling for a "truce" – an end to redrawing maps in red states, to keep blue states like his from doing their own redistricting.

"It's time to recognize that Democracy is at risk. It's time to, dare I say, do the right thing," he said.

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis had this to say Monday during a new conference in Melbourne, “We are going to have to do a mid-decade redistricting.”
