EAST LANSING – The first scrimmage of Michigan State football’s preseason camp is in the books. The second will be Saturday.
Which, for second-year coach Jonathan Smith, means the days in between are “a week of separation.” For both he and his staff crafting individual expectations of players, but also for reaching their collective goals of playing winning football and earning a postseason berth.
“I kind of described it as a week of separation to the team in regards to depth charts, but also just teams themselves,” Smith said Monday, Aug. 11. “What team can separate in regards to getting better through these dog days of camp?”
