CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Here’s a look at this week’s KCRG-TV9 Athlete of the Week softball nominees. They include Sydney Lovrien, Jersey Metz and Julia Roth.

Sydney Lovrien led Clarksville to a Class 1A state championship. She pitched a complete game, giving up one run in the championship game against No. 1 seed Wayne. She also had two hits and two RBI’s in the title game.

Jersey Metz led Williamsburg to their third straight state championship. She was named captain of the 3A All-Tournament team, pitching a complete game and letting up two runs in the state title game.

Julia Roth of Dubuque Wahlert was one of the state’s most dangerous hitters in 2025, launching a state-best 24 home runs. She pitched every inning of the state tournament, leading the Golden Eagles all the way to t
