President Donald Trump retreated from his calls for chipmaker Intel to dismiss its CEO , Lip-Bu Tan, after meeting with the tech executive on Monday.
The president on social media called the meeting “very interesting” and said Tan’s “success and rise is an amazing story.”
Trump’s earlier post on social media said Tan should resign over alleged but unspecified conflicts of interest — potentially related to Tan’s past investments in China.
Reuters reported in April that Tan had invested in hundreds of Chinese technology businesses . Reuters was unable to determine at the time whether Tan still held those investments and said it found no evidence his investments were illegal.
