A Kansas City man was killed early Sunday, Aug. 10 when severe storms swept through southwest Iowa.

According to the Shenandoah Police Department, officers were called around 4 a.m. to Sportsmans Park, where cyclists participating in the Rooster Tail Ride had been camping. About 30 minutes earlier, a storm packing severe wind gusts rolled through the area, according to the police department.

Police said 42-year-old Brian Seago died when a small shed he was camping behind was blown onto the tent in which he was sleeping.
