SPOKANE, Wash. – Pete Serrano, formerly the mayor of Pasco, has been sworn in as the Interim United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington, the office announced Monday in a media release.

As Interim United States Attorney, Serrano will supervise civil litigations and prosecution of federal crimes across 20 counties in Eastern Washington, including Spokane and Yakima counties.

He was appointed to the position on August 6, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Serrano worked as an attorney for the Department of Energy focusing on environmental law from 2015 to 2018.
