For Anita Bachand, pigeons are more than a nuisance. They’ve become an unbearable intrusion.

Bachand, who has lived in her north Edmonton home on 117 Street for 62 years, told council she has endured months of relentless cooing from pigeons kept next door.

“The relentless sound of the male pigeons infiltrating three-quarters of my home, and this is with the windows and doors closed daily from dawn to 10:45 at night. It’s ridiculous and extremely frustrating,” she said, adding she resorted to ear protection both indoors and in her yard.

“How can my neighbours’ side hustle have priority over the peaceful use of my home? I would venture to say that at least 90 per cent of Edmontonians are unaware that your neighbour could have one to 75 pigeons.”
