NEW RICHMOND, Ohio —
A major waterfront development is coming to the city of New Richmond.
The small river town will be getting a grant of $13.4 million to create a new marina and streetscape. Construction of the marina is slated to begin in spring 2026. Advertisement
The new project is part of Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine's Wonderful Waterfront Initiative.
DeWine visited New Richmond Monday to cut the ribbon on the project, known as Liberty Landing, which aims to create a marina and area where riverboats might stop.
"The goal is to allow more people to enjoy this great river," DeWine said.
The governor is using $500 million in state money for projects in Ohio's 32 Appalachian counties, with $152 million allocated for projects in river communities like New Richmond, Higginsport and Ripley.
