AlumniFi Field will be the name of the future Detroit City FC soccer stadium planned for Detroit's Corktown neighborhood.
The Detroit FC revealed the name and a new set of renderings for the 15,000-capacity stadium on Monday night, Aug. 11.
The stadium is to be built on the long-vacant Southwest Detroit Hospital. While the hospital demo was once slated to begin in July, it now will happened by the end of this year pending public approvals.
The stadium, which will be privately financed, will open in time for the 2027 USL One Championship season.
The new stadium would be more than double the 7,200-person capacity of Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck, where the professional soccer team now plays. Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.
