BOISE, Idaho — A 41-year-old man could spend the rest of his life in prison for the murder of his wife in September 2023 in Canyon County.

Francisco Torres Rodriguez was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 35 years without parole late last week, the County County Prosecuting Attorney's Office announced Monday.

A Canyon County jury found Rodriguez guilty of first-degree murder earlier this year in the death of his wife, 34-year-old Reyna Quintero, as previously reported by KTVB .

Authorities said Rodriguez shot Quintero in the head in September 2023. According to court records , he staged the murder to make it appear as death by suicide.

The state argued for a fixed life sentence without the possibility of parole during the sentencing hearing, Monday's news release said. T
