CASA GRANDE, AZ (AZFamily) — Just three weeks into the new school year, the Casa Grande Union High School District is seeing positive results after enforcing a strict new cell phone policy.
The rule, which started at the beginning of the school year, bans students from using their phones during class, between periods, and even at lunch. “It is night and day. They’re here on time. They’re ready to work,” said Vista Grande High School teacher Angela Weddle.
The policy is part of a statewide effort led by Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs to reduce cell phone use in schools. In June, the district approved a new rule that requires students to store their phones in boxes during class time.
