A Powerball player in Texas won $100,000, just missing the $479 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched four winning numbers , the Powerball and the Power Play multiplier in the drawing Saturday, Aug. 9, the Texas Lottery said.
The lucky ticket was sold at an H-E-B Food Store in Leander, which is about a 25-mile drive north from Austin, lottery officials said in an email to McClatchy News.
Two other Texas players won $50,000 prizes. Those tickets were sold at a Kroger in Tomball, which is about a 35-mile drive northwest from Houston, and at a Walmart in Amarillo, lottery officials said.
A ticket sold in Illinois won a $1 million prize.
The winning numbers were 7, 14, 23, 24 and 60 with a Powerball of 14. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.
