NEW OREANS (WGNO) - It's not even the middle or peak part of "Hurricane Season 2025" yet, but the Atlantic basin is definitely beginning to brew.

This spot has everyone talking as the now Tropical Storm Erin has the potential to become hurricane status later this week!

If that happens, it'll become the first hurricane seen in the Atlantic basin this season.

Erin is located about 500-miles west-northwest from the Cabo Verde Islands and a little over 2,000 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands.

Its maximum sustained winds clock in at 45-mph as it moves westward at 21-mph with tropical-force-winds that extend outward up to 35-miles.

The National Hurricane Center is forecasting that Erin will gradually gain strength over the next several days and ultimately turning into a hurricane.
