ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —

On Monday, August 11, 2025, New Mexico House Republican Leadership met with the New Mexico National Guard to present a certificate of appreciation for their service and to discuss ongoing efforts of “Operation Zia” to combat crime.

On Monday, KOAT spoke with Republican Reps. Gail Armstrong and Rebecca Dow. KOAT also spoke with Mayor Tim Keller's spokesperson, Gilbert Gallegos.

In July, the leadership of the New Mexico House Republican Caucus sent a letter to Major General Miguel Aguilar, the Adjutant General of the New Mexico National Guard. In the letter, they requested an opportunity to meet with National Guard personnel to hear insights on how to improve crime-fighting efforts
