LONGVIEW, Texas — Monday was a big day for Longview ISD, as students headed back to school energized and ready to take on a fresh year filled with growth, learning and new opportunities.
"I'm kind of nervous and excited at the same time," fifth grade Hudson PEP Elementary student Emma Pena said.
While she’s feeling a mix of emotions, there are a couple of things she’s especially looking forward to.
"Friends and doing good on my grades and homework," Pena said.
East Texas instructors have worked tirelessly over the summer in order to welcome back students.
"I know the teachers have been eagerly awaiting this day, preparing their classrooms and ensuring that learning is going to happen on day one," Hudson PEP Elementary School Principal Christy Scott said.
