A Lyft driver allegedly raped a passenger over the weekend after picking her up in Boston and driving her to Somerville, prosecutors said.

Luis Carlos Ramos Teixeira, 27, was charged with rape and indecent assault and battery on a person over fourteen in Somerville District Court Monday, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced. The man, a Brockton resident, was arrested Sunday on a warrant.

A woman went to the hospital and reported the alleged assault, the DA said.

Police then identified the Lyft driver as Teixeira. He had allegedly picked up the woman in Boston and brought her to her home in Somerville. There, he allegedly got into the back seat and sexually assaulted her, prosecutors said.

Attorney information for Teixeira was not immediately available Monday night.
