POCATELLO — The Idaho State defense had the upper hand at Saturday’s scrimmage, but it was off the field and on the other side of the ball that the big news was made.

ISU head football coach Cody Hawkins announced afterwards that redshirt junior Jordan Cooke won the starting quarterback job and will be taking most of the snaps with the No. 1 offense as the Bengals prepare for their Aug. 23 season opener at UNLV.
